2017-09-19 — In a continuing effort to improve the urban transit network and optimize mobility within city limits, the city is launching the second edition of its far-reaching study on the transportation habits of residents of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, including all modes of transportation.

From September 18 to October 15, 2017, citizens are invited to participate in the study by downloading the MTL Trajet mobile application free of charge. The app was developed by Concordia University.

To participate:

  • Must 18 or older;
  • Must live in the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal and travel on the island on a regular basis;
  • Download the MTL Trajet application to your smart phone free of charge; the app is available at the Apple Store or Google Play;
  • Record 25 trips between September 18 and October 15, 2017.

Prizes to win

All participants who record 25 or more trips will be eligible for a random draw for a chance to win one of the following prizes:
  • OPUS à l’année card
  • Apple Watch
  • Two $250 gift cards to an outdoor gear and equipment store
  • A pair of tickets to a hockey game
  • A pair of tickets to a concert presented by the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal
  • Five annual BIXI memberships
The data collected and anonymized will ultimately help ensure improved planning across the urban transit network, taking into account the needs of all users.

2016 results

The 2016 results suggest a number of possibilities. Some will have a concrete impact on the daily lives of Montrealers, including the planning of detour routes and the further development of the bike path network.
